Animals and law

According to PCA 1960 an animal can only be killed as provided under section 11(3) (c) the extermination or destruction of any animal under the authority of any law for the time being in force; or  (d) any matter dealt with in Chapter IV; or  (e) the commission or omission of any act in the course of the destruction or the preparation for destruction of any animal as food for mankind unless such destruction or preparation was accompanied by the infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering Chapter IV deals with Experimentation of animals. The exemption related to religion is dealt with under section 28 and refers to the manner in which an animal is killed and not purpose. 28. Saving as respects manner of killing prescribed by religion : Nothing contained in this Act shall render it an offence to kill any animal in a manner require d by the religion of any community.
